Silent Auction and Lottery Auction

We're having two different categories in this fund-raising event, now. One will be a classic silent auction, where bids are written down through the day. We're calling the other a lottery auction (it is often called a Chinese auction). In this type of setup, each item available is put on display with an explanatory label and a number, and a receptacle. Participants buy tickets and bid on each item by placing a ticket or tickets in the receptacle for that item. Each person may put as many tickets as they wish in any particular receptacle. One ticket is then drawn to determine who will receive that item.

At the gate, each entrant will receive one free (with entry) auction ticket to use as he or she wishes for the lottery auction. It will have a unique number. At the Lottery Auction booth, each person signs in at his/her number, with name and phone number for contact, and may buy additional tickets at four for a dollar. Then he or she may bid on anything in the Lottery Auction.
